was founded in 1988 on the southwest side of Chicago by two long-time
friends, Leonard Nowakowski and Walter Jaremowicz, an electronics
technician. A
board of directors was formed, and we became
incorporated and obtained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Laurie Reyna, a
member of the founding board, still manages the group today. Our first production was presented in the gym at Archer Park,
with the audience seated on bleachers. Because the gym was needed by
various sports groups, the set and lighting needed to be erected before
and struck immediately after each performance.
Our second production was staged in Pasteur School's assembly
hall, which has poor acoustics and was unavailable on Saturdays. But we
persevered, mounting our next eight productions at the Musichorale Arts
Center.
In 1992, we moved to Foster Hall on the lower level of
Clearing Church, where we remained for ten years. When the church
closed at the end of 2001, we did our next production at St. Joseph
School in Summit, but the stage proved too small and the acoustics too
difficult to manage.
In the fall of 2002, we arranged for the use of Home
Auditorium in Stickney, a 312-seat theater, where we hope to
produce plays for many years to come.
